As the senior class of 2026 prepares for graduation, I asked fellow seniors to reflect on their Pinewood journey. Thank you to the seniors who shared their thoughtful insights about their favorite memories, personal growth, and best advice for incoming freshmen.
- What is your favorite memory at Pinewood?
Jake: My favorite memory is going to be the Senior Class Disneyland Trip after we all graduate together.
Mailey: My favorite Pinewood memory was back in Middle Campus when we would have sports days at the end of each year. It was one full day filled with playing all sorts of sports, and both the energies of unity and competitive spirit filled the air!
Lara: I’ve always loved Pinewood’s Day on the Green as every grade comes together to look back on their experiences and memories from the year, especially through our yearbook signing tradition.
- In what ways do you feel you have changed since you first started Pinewood?
Billy: Pinewood has allowed me to become a much more outgoing person through the extremely supportive community. I don’t think I would be the same person I am now if I didn’t have the environment Pinewood provides.
Lara: For me, Pinewood has greatly diminished the fear of putting myself out there. With its immensely supportive community, I’m less afraid to take risks as I’m grateful to have a network of friends, mentors, and teachers to help catch me and bring me back on my feet.
Soha: Over the years, I’ve matured into a stronger, more self-aware, and experienced version of myself. I’ve learned how to advocate for myself in different situations and have developed a deeper understanding of my own capabilities and how I think about the world.
- What was your favorite school activity?
Jake: Our senior year Lip Sync was really special to me. I think it reflected our growth and willingness to work together as a team over the past four years.
Addison: I love school dances. I enjoy spending a night dancing and hanging out with all my friends in different grades. It’s so fun to see the high school come together and just have fun.
Soha: Starting We Who Code and organizing every meeting, guest speaker event, and fundraiser since freshman year has been my favorite experience at Pinewood. The effort and heart I poured into it over four years has shaped me as a leader, and I am grateful for Ms. Tran’s support throughout it all.
- What advice would you give to incoming freshmen who are just starting their Pinewood journey?
Billy: My advice to incoming freshmen would be not to be afraid to try new things. From photography to theater, Pinewood gives you so many opportunities.
Lara: Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your teachers are there to support you, and they deeply care about your learning, so definitely leverage their office hours to clarify any confusion you may have.
Soha: At Pinewood, you have the unique ability to make lasting change, with a strong community to support and guide you. Be sure to take advantage of every opportunity!
As the seniors complete Pinewood journey, they expressed a deep appreciation for the valuable opportunities and support Pinewood has provided over the years, which they will carry forward into college and beyond.
