Pinewood’s annual Winter Formal dance has been hosted on a variety of diverse venues and this year, the event took place on a yacht. This is a site where Pinewood has previously organized the dance a few years ago, and ASB decided to revive the magic.
ASB Culture and Communities Representative Elizabeth Liang shared that Winter Formal a few years ago was an extremely enjoyable occasion, and that they agreed to bring back the experience.
“Since we’re on a boat, we’re basically moving the whole time… it feels like being on a whole different world,” Liang said. “When you’re out on the ocean, you can completely forget about what’s happening on land, just for one night.”
Freshman Shankuran Parameswaran, enjoyed the scenery of San Francisco.
“I thought it was really beautiful to see the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge, along with the city lights,” Parameswaran said. “San Francisco at night is truly captivating and gorgeous.”
Fellow freshman Sam Friedland, expressed that the best part of the dance was the way he was able to form stronger connections with various people.
“I felt as though I connected with my peers that I have not really talked to as much yet, including people of other grades and groups,” Friedland said.
“Some of the best memories I’ve had in high school have been from school dances,” Liang said. “They’re so fun and everyone always has a great time. You make amazing memories!”
